From Windows Vista to Windows XP Restore

Reverting from Windows Vista to XPMicrosoft has come under a lot of pressure from system builders to extend the period they will be able to deliver new systems with Microsoft XP operating system installed rather than Windows Vista which became available to the general public January 31st of this year. Generally, the cut of date would be one year from the new OS release. It has now been extended to June 15, 2008.

Mike Nash, a Microsoft vice president has stated "Some customers, especially small businesses, don't have the benefit of an IT staff to help them evaluate and deploy new versions of the operating system. As a result, the transition is more challenging for them." The fact is, however, that the OS has been plagued by bugs and even at this late date there is a lack of compatible drivers and many developers of professional software vendors have pushed back delivery dates for Vista compatible versions of their applications.

Most recently, the software giant has quietly issued a cd to revert a system running Windows Vista Business or Ultimate to Windows XP Professional through some of it's partner network. Lenovo, HP and Fujitsu are already offering the cd. Dell is offering the cd for a fee with some systems shipped with Vista.
