Westell 6100F Configuration For Verizon DSL

Verizon has chosen the Westell 6100F Modem /Router for many customers who may need to swap out their old Fujitsu modems to accommodate upgrades to their DSL service. The unit has confused may customer who have tried to simply swap out their old modem with the Westell 6100F and use it with an existing router. To use it with your existing router you must first disable the 6100's routing features and enable bridge mode.

Verizon provides the GT704WG Wireless Modem / Router from Actiontec with your Verizon DSL subscription. It is disappointing that they are still shipping a product with the wireless "G" standard when "N" has been out for some time now and many laptops ship with the newer standard. Other than that it is a versatile gateway with wireless "G" and a 4 port switch that does the job.
